PIA Offices in Islamabad to Remain Closed During Summit

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has announced the closure of its Islamabad offices from October 14 to 16, coinciding with the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit. This decision is part of heightened security measures implemented ahead of the high-profile event.

However, PIA employees stationed at the airport and working in shifts will continue their duties as usual during this period. In addition, access to Islamabad’s Red Zone has been restricted to the general public to ensure safety during the summit.

This follows an earlier announcement by the Supreme Court of Pakistan, which declared a three-day closure from October 14 to 16. The principal seat of the Supreme Court in Islamabad will remain closed, while provincial registries will continue to operate. The Cabinet Division issued an official notification regarding the court closures under Supreme Court rules.

The SCO summit is scheduled for October 15 and 16 in Islamabad, with security preparations already in place. Section 144, a law restricting public gatherings, has been enforced in both Rawalpindi and Islamabad from October 12 to 17, adding a layer of precaution in the twin cities as the international meeting approaches.

The summit is expected to draw the attention of various global leaders, making it a significant diplomatic event for Pakistan.
