Following the repair of the railway bridge in Bolan, which was destroyed in a terrorist attack, train services from Quetta to other regions of the country have resumed after a gap of one and a half months.

The Jaffar Express has left Quetta, taking passengers to Peshawar.

Imran Hayat, the Divisional Superintendent of Railways, mentioned that train services were restored after 46 days, with the damaged bridge being rebuilt in a record time of one and a half months by Pakistan Railways’ own technical team.

He also informed that the Bolan Mail will depart from Karachi for Quetta today, with enhanced security measures in place.

Passengers expressed joy over the restoration of the service, noting that it is a relief after facing significant challenges during the disruption.

Recently, Pakistan Railways is undertaking a project to construct a 105-kilometer railway line that will connect Thar Coal mines with Port Qasim. This initiative aims to enhance the country’s bulk transportation capacity and support economic growth, particularly in key industries like cement and textiles.

The project, jointly funded by the Sindh and federal governments, is expected to be completed by October 2025. It will include a 24.58-kilometer loop line and an 18-kilometer double-line track from Bin Qasim to Port Qasim, designed to handle large freight volumes.

Upon completion, the rail network will be capable of transporting 10 million tons of coal annually, significantly reducing the country’s reliance on imported coal. Additionally, seven new stations will be established along the route, including major ones at the Thar coal mines and Chhor, to facilitate efficient coal transportation.
