WhatsApp’s Telegram-Like Chat Color Themes Launch Soon

Telegram has always been ahead of WhatsApp in terms of features, but the Meta-owned chatting platform has been catching up slowly but surely. While WhatsApp already has chat themes, it will soon let you alter chat bubble colors as well as backgrounds individually for separate conversations.

WhatsApp’s chat-specific themes have been in the works for months now. However, this new feature is currently only available to users of the Android beta version of WhatsApp. But that also means it should reach the stable version of the app soon enough.

Although the majority of users will not have immediate access to chat-specific themes, it is possible to preview the feature and anticipate its wider release within a few months. This feature is somewhat surprising, given that Facebook Messenger has offered chat-specific themes for a significant amount of time.
WhatsApp offers a wide range of customization options for chat themes, including 20 different colors and over 22 textured themes. When applying a theme, a matching message color is automatically selected, and users can further personalize each chat with a unique wallpaper while maintaining the chosen message color.

Unlike Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp’s themes are private, allowing each participant in a conversation to customize their view of the chat.

As it stands, there is currently no indication of when the feature will reach WhatsApp’s wider audience, but we will keep you posted in any case. Stay tuned.
